Renewable sources

So most of the energy worldwide still comes from fossil fuels. About 80% when you add up the three main sources above (oil, coal and natural gas). 
All not looking very good, right? So what's the alternative?

What are the main renewable energy sources?

That is where renewable sources of energy come in! We can get energy from the sun (which will continue to shine), the wind (which isn't used up when we build wind farms), and from water, for example. And if we powered or whole day thorough the sun (also called solar energy) with solar panels on the roof, we would release just 1,5kg of CO₂ (around 20 times less than coal and 12 times less than natural gas)! Wind and water can have even less CO₂. We'll talk about each of these renewable sources in turn in a moment.
